Welcome our blog! With so many new supporters and so much interest, we thought it would be helpful to chronicle our little project.

Here, you’ll be able to track our journey – from a few like-minded people getting together to talk about sustainable living, to establishing a full-fledged ecovillage farm – right from the start, step by step. We’d like this to be a forum for core members, supporters and community members to discuss our progress, share ideas and ask questions. Please post comments like there’s no tomorrow.

So let’s start from the very beginning. What’s our dream?

Well. To put it bluntly, our dream is to live in a way that doesn’t harm the integrity of our planet. Yes, our forebears have plenty to teach us about living sustainably, but frankly, we don’t want to live in the past. On the contrary, our dream is to establish a sustainable community ecosystem that’s about a way of life for the future.

Here’s an excerpt from our Village Farm Vision:

“We envision an interdependent, cooperative and learning community that strives to: preserve and protect the land and water; provide sustenance to each other; and be interconnected with the larger society.

As a part of a transition to a less fossil-fuel dependent lifestyle, we intend to provide as much as possible for our basic needs within a relocalized economy, which we will help to create by fostering relationships throughout the surrounding community and with other ecologically minded food producers in our bioregion.”

And yes, we’ll have wifi.

In upcoming posts, you’ll hear from some of our current core members and learn more about the structure of The Village Farm. If you’re interested in reading more about our Vision, a full transcript is posted in the bar above.

Thanks for visiting! We hope you’ll subscribe, comment and share.
